Have you ever lie in bed at night, with all the lights out and your blanket over your head so that not even a flicker of light from outside the window can reach your retina? Imagine you put two people in this situation and ask one to leave his eyes opened while the other's closed. Asked the first person what he sees and he might just say darkness. If you ask him what colour he sees, he will say black. Ask the one with closed eyes what does he see and he will most probably tell you nothing. But in truth, aren't they seeing, or more to unseeing the same thing since in total darkness, there's really no difference whether you shut your eyes or not? And you need light to be able to see anything at all, right? So why do we think that we see black when we are in total darkness?
It's just a random thought.
