RZ I.U Day

Hello again! Last week had been a really busy week for me since I was staying back in school almost every day to help out with the preparation of my school's International Understanding Day. It was held last Saturday and if you ask me, I'm still not really sure about the main objective of I.U Day. Some say it's so that people can have a better understanding of other people and culture on an international level while others say that it gives us Interactors experience in organizing an event. Or was it to train us in our leadership skills? I really don't know.

Anyhow, being part of the organizing committee of the I.U Day of my school had been a great experience. Along with Hany, I was the emcee for the event too, which meant that the whole experience had been sort of freaky too. We started of really badly, which didn't exactly help ease my nerves on that day. Hany and I were really convinced that our emceeing skills were so bad that we probably screw up the whole thing. But at the end of the day, we did get some compliments from our teacher advisor Pn. Susy, our Rotary advisors and some friends, so things were good. Of course, whether we were genuinely praised or were given the compliments out of reassurance will remain a mystery. Haha.

I just thank God that our I.U Day didn't end like how we started it. I would say tha organizing committee did a pretty good job. =)

Welcoming of the VIP

The VIPs/Rotarians
Not usual to see VIPs being on time isn't it? LOL

We started off with the singing of 'Negaraku' and the Interact song. Because we couldn't find the musics to both songs, we had to do it the a capella way. This was when I realized that, to my horror, most Interactors don't even know the Interact song. I requested all the Interactors present to sing along coz I know that we ourselves didn't really practiced the song, only to hear few miserable voices singing. What's worse, the few that actually sang probably sang it wrongly. I think the Rotarians were ready to kill every single Interactor there.

Mr. Ng talking on behalf of our school

The 1st performance of the day

The apple game. Contestants were supposed to eat the hanging apples without using their hands. We found out on that day that it was impossible due to the apples' slippery surfaces. In the end, we let the contestants hold the apples.
YinHui trying to eat one of the untouched apples during break time to see if it is at all possible to bite the apple without touching it.
Elaine joined in. I tried to take a bite too. Verdict is, it's not possible. Haha...
Another Indian dance performance
The president of ACS Interact Club (oops, I forget his name) promoting his school's I.U Day, which will happen coming Saturday
Anoother game
Contestants bursting the balloons to look for strips of papers. They were supposed to unscramble the scrambled words.
Our 7th and last performance: singing 'Heal the World' and 'We are the World'
Everybody joined in the song
Not a bad ending, see? Haha
YinHui and I
I didn't manage to have lots of pics coz the friend who I asked to help take the pics were having two cameras, so I only have half of all the pics.
Bye for now!
